TOPIC: CLAYTON ROAD
Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I rode Clayton Road on Sunday and I guess MODOT and Town & Country
read SBRStL because there is fresh new blacktop from I-270 to just east
of Ballas Road.
In my last article I wrote about the fact that rich old west county
can't maintain Clayton Road From 270 to Spoede Road.
Well I guess Town and Country read my article, and fearful of my wrath,
did something about it.
I'm not sure about the politics involved, but it seems like a city has
control over how well they maintain their roads.
So, what's the DEAL Frontenac?
As we bike on the only main road in your city, Clayton Road, we notice
a change as we enter your wonderful city: potholes, lose blacktop, cracks,
gravel, flatten animals, and all kinds of crap in the road.
Now I grew up in Ladue, so I have the right to slam Frontenac. When
I was growing up Frontenac was just a Ladue wannabe.
Today you get all that tax revenue from Plaza Frontenac, and Brio, where
all those rich old men throw around Franklins to impress all the young
dressed up women who are there looking for free drinks.
I guess the city figures that all their residents have those Hummers
and Escalades, so a few potholes and crap in the road isn't a big deal.
I just don't get it!!
On any given weekend, you'll find hundreds of bikers and runners all
along Clayton Road from 141 to Lindbergh. It's a great road to bike
and run on because of the wide shoulder, straight lines, light traffic
and usually courteous drivers.
Hopefully, somebody in the city government of Frontenac, along with
somebody at MODOT will read THIS article and figure out that Clayton
Road is a jewel in a metro area that is desperately lacking in quality
biking roads and use some of those millions from Brio and resurface
the rest of Clayton Road.

If
you have the time, give good old Frontenac a call or send them an e-mail,
and ask them when they are planning on fixing Clayton Road.
Maybe, if enough folks write and ring them up, they'll get the hint.
Until next time,
Train Smart, Live Right.
